The Story So Far

The Motives formed early 2011 and were soon into the studio and out on the road. Here are the highlights of their journey so far…

  • March 2011 – Gangsters EP released
  • August 2011 – first dates in the UK and Netherlands, including headlining the Blues in Giethoorn Festival (Waterstage)
  • March 2012 – the songs Leap of Faith and Gangsters nominated for Kevin Thorpe Songwriters Award in the British Blues Awards
  • June 2012 – eponymous debut album released in the UK, Netherlands and Germany to excellent reviews
  • July 2012 – opened for Robert Cray at Shepherds Bush Empire as part of London Bluesfest
  • August 2012 – interview appears in Classic Rock’s ‘The Blues’ Magazine
  • October 2012 – opened for Robert Cray on tour in The Netherlands
  • January 2013 – live session for Paul Jones’ BBC Radio 2 show
  • March 2013 – interview appears in Blues Matters Magazine
  • May 2013 – three nominations in the British Blues Awards, in the band, album and keyboard player categories
  • Aug 2013 – headline act at Blues Au Chateau Festival, La Chèze, France
  • October 2013 – London Bluesfest at The Royal Albert Hall
  • May 2014 – headline act at Hebden Bridge Blues Festival, UK (British Blues Awards festival of the year 2014)
  • October 2014 – London Bluesfest at The Royal Albert Hall
  • July 2015 – Maryport Blues Festival main stage
